So I am in the middle of a rebuild and have swapped over to a 200tdi loom from the original TD one.
I can only get it started if i bypass the starter relay. I've tried multiple relays and its still the same; it just clicks and does nothing. On random occasions when i go to start it begins to turn over but then suddenly stops and nothing, it acts as if it's got a relay in the starter position, if i wait a few minutes, something goes click, as in there is a sound, and it starts normally.... Click seems to come from a relay but I cant figure out which one. First thoughts would be the starter relay but as I've said, that is currently bypassed so can not be that one.

Any ideas?

Cheers

I had a problem with my starter relay with exactly the same engine and similar issue, mine was the earth to the relay wasn't connected. Use a multimeter to check that the earth from the relay is earthed.

I'll check it out, it would kind of make sense since I have not gone around and checked all the earths yet!

Thanks
