Hi folks, I moved a couple of pipes and got a spray of water from one which had split, in fact it was so brittle that it just collapsed when I tried to remove it. This was the plastic pipe which runs from the EGR cooler to the expansion tank and it had frayed where it rubs against the battery cable, wearing through the outer protective cover on both and eating into the pipe itself.
I presume this pipe is rigid plastic to enable it to follow the contours around the block but has anyone else had trouble with it, and what's their solution? Is it as simple as replacing it with flexible hose, or has someone brought out an uprated version as a straight-fit replacement?

Presumably this is on a late td5 disco, if so the pipe in question get brittle over time and breaks very easily, new one from landrover is about £12 and a simple 5 minute job to replace. Problem solved.

I would advise ANYBODY with a TD5 Discovery to check this pipe and replace it !

They get extremely fragile after a few years, and could catch you out if it breaks.

I replaced mine with good quality rubber hose.
