Ok, well, there's a thread on here about a garage doing this "swap", and making a complete mess of it (!) - the thread is worth a read.
That said, I have de EDC'd my D1 auto - easy job - but you do need to do some wiring mods, and you NEED the kickdown brackets for the standard VE FIP.
There are two multi pin connectors to the EDC pump - The largest one just needs insulating for safety - the smaller one contains the wire for the fuel stop solenoid, which IIRC, is white with a black tracer..The EDC 'puter can stay where it is, and the check engine light needs the bulb and or holder removing from the instrument cluster. ( think that covers it with an engine swap ) Your original #4 injector might be worth money too - so save it!!.
try and source the KD brackets from a breaker if you can - they are are £100 from LR, which pi55ed me off at the time

. You probably know this, but do NOT run the gearbox without the KD cable connected - or you'll be replacing that too.
You will be well down on power ( obviously) with the VE pump - BUT this can be sorted with a full width IC and some proper pump tuning - mine is running 145 HP, which is considerably more than the EDC carp, and IMHO, was worth every penny of the cost involved.
( I've ignored details of fitting the TC/AB etc, as you haven't asked - but it is covered on the ashcroft transmissions site if you have any doubts )
