I've got my disco chassis on eBay at present being sold with the V5 as it should be.

Had someone message me asking me for a photo of the chassis number, I've declined as I can only see this being useful for hiding another stolen Disco.

Anyone know any different or if i've done the right thing there?!

Ask the person why they need the number. They could check it against the V5 after the sale but before they part with the cash.

Tell him the reg number and explain thats all you need for a check. That way you are not hiding anything.

It could after all be someone who is genuinely interested!

Explain that the Vin number matches that which is shown on the V5 and that it is untampered with.

Yeah, i explained my reasons, said it is HPI clean, etc. and gave him the reg plate, if he wins it and it doesn't add up (which it all does) he can walk away.

Actually, I dunno. It's all a bit of a joke really isn't it, it could easily go rusty and be replaced totally legit.

I had that too. Soem bloke from Jersey wanting to buy my Range Rover - wanted the VIN number so 'my guys can run a check on it' eventhough I had supplied the reg number and assured him that it was HPI clear. He then wanted to do a money transfer before viewing the car and collecting. All sounded too fishy in the end so I ended communication and sold to someone else - he never emailed again.

Meh, he didn't bid, chassis and front axle sold for a whooping big £46.00

Least i don't have to get it to the scrap yard now :)
