You can swap the ECU no problem, however if there is a fault in the system it will just come back with the new ECU.

It's an OBD socket Try Emmotts, our sponsors at the top of the page. Get one with a few inches of cable and solder to your existing loom.:)

As I posted recently. If you are having problems with a diagnostic bit of kit comunicating with the EAS ECU then it will probably be low battery voltage or more commonly corrosion in the white conector that is found in the passenger side lower panel, just in front of the front door. Pull back the door seal and remove the plastic panel. One philips if I remember. You should find two white connectors you want the larger one as the other is for the speakers. You could try some switch cleaner but I would recommend wiring them out, ie removing the connector completely and solder each wire protecting each with heat shrink tubing.

If you are using a USB to serial adaptor on Vista then odds on that's the problem. Sourcing a driver that works with Vista is a nightmare. If you bought a USB cable and are using the RSW EAS software contact the cable supplier. If using an adaptor you can search for drivers on line or buy a card bus to RS232 adaptor which is easier to set up.

:eek:Not good at remembering names:eek::eek: Now you know why I don't do a USB version of the cable.
