hi people im looking to see if anyone knows where i can buy a new pump with decent warrenty mine has gave up the ghost and garage told me theres plenty going around but only last about 6months to a year?

Try Island 4 x 4, they had some original Dunlop ones at a reasonable price. what's wrong with yours that it can't be refurbished?

dont know much about it datatek boy in garage told me its a bugger/too fiddly to change insides of them and they stopped getting good quality ones year and half ago so dont order them any more also said that the new one thats on my p38 at the moment is a refurbished one and its lasted less than 3 months seeing as i bought the car 2 and bit months ago i have no info about garage that replaced it just a date sticker when it was done

Not fiddly at all if you take your time...piece of the perverbial actually...

As for quality, there is a bunch of dutch sourced seals and liners on the market that the seals are darker in colour and people have reported mixed logevity results....

Take a gander on fleabay, and look for a seal set with a lighter tan colour to the teflon seal, as these are reported to last better....

for the sake of £30 better to try that first then shell out £150 plus for a new/refurb compressor.

If your last pump only managed 3 months, it's probably because it's flogging itself to death feeding leaky airbags:eek:

cant be that datatek the boy in garage raised it yesterday and disconnected something in the eas box and its been up all last night and today he checked mod block, relays, wiring, valves, sensors and the pump when pull pipe of the dryer theres no force whatsoever an asthmatic blowing through a straw is better lol.im not entirly sure the boy that sold me the car isnt passed sticking a label on the pump to fool potential buyers into thinking its been done as he only on the registration doc for having it 3-4wks before selling it on and he didnt want to meet at his house met in a asda carpark to start with

If it is the compressor, as Data said the ones from Island 4x4 are fine. I had one on my last P38 that preformed admirably.

As for buying a P38 in a car park that had been previously owned for 4 weeks!! Sounds like it call end in tears. Hope you get lucky, or failing that you got it for a song!!

Should have walked from that one. First rule of buying any motor, I would seriously check all your documents for water marks.

first meeting was in car park im not that silly lol i went to his house for the final transaction and the only thing wrong has been the pump problem i got all the service history previous reciepts and mots right up till recent so its nothing dodgy the boy was just unsure as to having punters going to his house but unsure about the legnth of time he owned probably couldnt afford to run it and the idea of having luxury car like that appealed he was quite young early twentys id say

After refurbishing my original pump with a Dutch kit I had it fail after about three months during last winter. I bit the bullet and bought a new one from Island 4x4. I then bought another refurb kit from Symlise (recommended to me), refurbed the original and put it on the shelf. I thought that I'd need a spare 'fairly' soon but a year later the new one from Island is still working perfectly.

im going to buy one from island and whilest thats working ok im going to give refurbing old one a go cant do anything wrong to it when it doesnt work already is my reckoning lol is island only for traders as when i tried to order online its asking for vat no?
