You are being paranoid. Unless you try to change the heights you can't screw anything. You don't say which EAS software but presuming it's the RSW suite, start the laptop then open the EAS software, plug the cable into the OBD port on the car, turn the ignition key to position 2, the car should beep and display the 35mph message, no need to start the engine, start the EAS software, you should get good idle green, then you can read the faults, heights etc. When you have finished, stop the software, turn off the ignition, unplug the cable. Next time you turn on the ignition all should be normal.
