As some of you may know my L322 has been dragged through the mill lately

First the "Static when filing" and " Pressure drops when filling" problems were cured by a valve solenoid assembly - HERE

then

a full strip and inspect of the GM gearbox and a new TC fitted - HERE

then

analogue clock threw a wobbly - HERE

Well today I loaded up the trailer coverd over 120 mile to and from the circuit and went to play on track at Oulton Park in the TF !

EVERYTHING worked perfectly (even the TF)

so what was the final cost of the new tc and strip down? you never did say

Paul - the bill from VMTP was £1150 + vat

For me this was totally acceptable as if I had waited for the TC to explode (which according to the evidence found was not far away) I would have suffered the damage swarf would have caused to the casing and the valve block

Now I feel I have a GM gearbox that with regular oil and filter changes should give me thousands of miles of use and no "issues"

thats what i thought dave,i did get thousands of miles infact 5000 then it started to have issues again,imo its never going to be the same once its been dismantled good luck

yer , i think i might just go for a new tc and leave the gearbox alone rather than have it stripped down

If like mine there was no evidence of "sparkly" oil or swarf then yes I agree a new TC and refit only - VMTP though did find 1 overdrive clutch plate that needed replacing and the broken spring in the accumulator valve block

Either way a new TC is the way to go BEFORE the TC inevitably fails !
