I have a 1998 P38A DSE automatic which has had the EAS 'modified' by a previous owner. The system now has three switches located on the cubby box as follows:

Switch one: switches to inflate or deflate system.
Switches two and three: select/de-select each axle

Not sure why this has been done but means you can determine your own preferred ride height.

The system is air tight and maintains whatever height configuration is applied. The airsprings are in good condition - 3 appear to be almost new. The compressor looks almost new and works well.

The problem is at the rear axle: the n/s spring inflates quicker than the o/s which results in the car sitting unevenly when the system is switched off. However, if I allow it to fully raise it sits almost perfectly.

Can anybody advise how I can get the rear airsprings to inflate at the same speed to allow the vehicle to sit evenly?

I don't know if the height sensors are still active? How can I tell? Does it need calibrated using the cable/software available on eBay?

Any help very much appreciated.

Thank you.......

I doubt if anyone can give you any sensible advice ,without knowing how the system has been modified. If it is a simple manual inflation system without any form of feedback and leveling then you should have each airspring inflated seperately and leveled visually.

Sounds like just a blow the back up, blow the front up mod. If you can just blow it up to height you want to none of the sensors or even the ECU will be connected. Otherwise you would be getting fault messages.
Without seeing system and finding out what has been done, cannot really make any further comment.

Sorry, should have said that I have the EAS FAULT/35 MPH/4 orange lights on the original height selection switch showing, but it doesn't affect the vehicle. No "beep" sounds either (think the beeper has been disconnected)......:confused:

Ok but it looks like someone has jury rigged the system. You would have to return it to standard then work from that. Make sure everything that has been added is removed and reconnect anything that has been disconnected. It's not possible from where i sit to make any recommendation other than that.

I agree with Wammers, you need to start from a known point, then the original system operation can be verified.

Put it back to how it was .... But is knackered ?.. hence the bodge job ...... It's gonna cost a fortune

Don't really want to put it back how it was.......going to add a manual inflation system so I can control the height at each corner - £40 and a good back up if/when the compressor fails !

Each to their own. Might be something really trivial. But never mind Eh.

EAS manual inflation kit fitted (10 minutes), problem solved and backup in place for any future compressor etc issues :):):)

Highly recommended kit £40 + £5 postage.

If anybody wants one contact Paul Nash - nashers555@yahoo.co.uk - very helpful guy.

Now, what's next on the list......................
