i'm looking for some advice again my range rover p38 1995. the eas pump wont go up and not showing on the dash. I've got the easunlock software I've plugged it in to the car and i can switch the pump on from the laptop but when i disconnect it it still wont go up any ideas will be much appreciated.

i have read the faults and it came up with 1 saying vehicle has moved but i cleared it and no faults came up but when i unplug laptop from the car the pump comes on for a second then goes off

where would that be found thanks
You can check it with a meter, it's located in the compressor, can't recall the details at the moment but it can be checked from the connector. Have a look at RAVE, that will give you details or do a search, it's been covered many times.

Quote from Wammers: "Thermal switch is riveted and soldered to brush holder circuit board."

If you look at his how-to section you'll see where he says how to test it from the connector block.

hi just want to update eveyone i have replaced the thormo switch and it worked no problem for a good 5 hours and then its all back to not going up compressor not coming on unless i plug the laptop in and use the eas unlocker softwear
!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP !!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds as if thermo switch is burning out. Check wiring/electrics. Possibly compressor bushes/motor.

Right thanks getting a bit sick of it now think i have sorted it then it dose it all over again is there any way i can bypass it for now cus my miss wants to nip here there and evey where just till i get a bit of time thanks again

Do you have a leak??

You can plumb in bypass valves that Tee into the Airbag Lines for manual inflation....but this won't help if you have a leak!!

No there is no leaks i can put it on the high setting and it will stop up all week not started or anything dont think i will get any tee's day looks like my miss will be sat with the laptop on her lap today he he

You're new thermo switch may have failed. Or the solder joint to it. Did you secure it properly? If you have no leaks the compressor should never run long enough to get over hot. Have you checked the diaphragm valve for a leak? If that is sound and you have no leaks then either the new switch has failed or you have some other fault on the compressor. What was the condition of the brushes, armature and back bearing? Sometimes if you are not careful on re-assembly you can trap and hang the brush connection wire on the backplate and they will held off the armature. This way the motor will run for a while then when the brushes lose contact refuse to run. If you can start it by giving it a tap that maybe the problem.

Does manually running from the compressor bypass the thermo-switch cutoff??

If it does, then I would think the problem is the Thermo-switch not allowing the compressor to run in normal mode...

It is possible to bridge the thermo-switch to earth and see if the compressor still runs....but I wouldn't advise leaving it like this on a permenat basis for the obvious reasons!!

it willrun no problem with the laptop so it cant be the brushes can it ?

Have you checked the new switch for continuity from Orange to black? No continuity duff switch. Continuity bad connection in plugs. Or bad earth connection down side of EAS box on inner wing.

Yes Ant it just pulls relay in. Think there is a caution in EASunlock instructions not to force compressor for extended periods to avoid overheat. Happy Yule mate, don't do religious stuff. :):):)
