Whereabouts on the left side - inside the car (front or rear), under the bonnet?

Which electrical items are you having earth problems with?

.

sorry for being vague. it is the rear left lights that am having the trouble with. if you have lights on when you press the brake it goes off and the indicator just decides when it wants to work

If the stop/reverse lights are working then you don't have a problem with the body earth connection, your problem is with the lamp unit earth connections to the bulbs.

where abouts is that earth. is it behind the lights themselves. i.e just undo the 4 bolts and there it is, or is it further in,

thanks

You need to check the bulb holders and the track at the rear of the lamp unit to ensure a good connection.

As Discool said above, it sounds as though your fault is within the Lamp Cluster itself - one lamp earthing back through another.

There's one earth wire (Black) from the Upper L/H Lamp Cluster, which earths 3 x filaments - Stop, Tail and Indicator - back to the LH Earth Header C0707 behind the rear side trim -

I'm having the exact same problem but the ground seems secure. Any suggestions?
