Be aware that if you buy a new radiator that comes from Britpart - it will not fit.
The lower brackets are in the wrong place and they do not have any with the correct pattern. You either have to cut the brackets off and re braze them or find another source. Britpart not particularly helpful either.
Part number is 575971.

Making parts fit is part of the fun :D
If you want to buy parts off the shelf then you will have to buy a more popular, modern car. :)

Less fun if the car is a daily driver and you are trying to fit it overnight with no brazing gear.

You should have spent more money, britpart are cheap, that's why you bought it and not a quality radiator which would have fitted.
Any way if it's a daily drive then you could have cut and fitted the old radiator bracket with out brazing.
Parts not fitting is a problem encountered in the motor trade all the time.

You are arrogant and presumptuous. You have no way of knowing why I bought it. For a senior member to take this approach to a junior member ensures that you drive away people with less skill than your own.

Don't think he is trying to drive anyone away. He is just saying how things are.

He may be saying how things are but to tell someone they should have bought a modern car and that they bought a cheap radiator by choice is arrogant. I posted so that other people would now about a problem not to be abused.

Getting parts for early motors is more difficult day to day. Unless you have silly money to lay out, making do is the only way to go. Sadly.

Your on the wrong forum then, Humbles. The answer may not have been tactful, but it was chock-o-block full of the truth.

Not much hand holding here at the LZ, but a lot of info and banter. If you've not seen that during your time here I'm thinking that your going to be upset and twitchy frequently.

my 2 door classic rad set me back 330..fitted though..(bloody should do at that price though..it was hand built to my spec though)

re britpart..thanks for trhe warning..though we all know about them..good for some things, but a no no for anything "critical"

I empathise with you Humble, unfortunately a lot of our fellow forum members tend to assume that we all mechanics with workshop facilities which of course is not always the case as I for one have to rely on a good 'inde' to maintain my RRC, but having said that I've generally found any replies to my own queries to be helpful & informative. I don't know how old your RR is but I had a BP rad fitted to my '87 last year (having been unable to obtain an OE item) but both the quality & fit of the product was acceptable, just had to cap off the second header tank outlet pipe intended for the carb equipped version & make a slight modification to the cowl. I really wish now that I'd had the original rad re-cored, but then hindsight is a wonderful thing
