I too have had the same problems with the in-car adapter for DAB & the three radios at home. At home none were DAB+ so all went in the bin (as I only listen to Planet Rock) the adapter in the D2 was great initially but although it's DAB+ the signal quality on + has dropped the 40kbps (think it used to be 90 odd) which is why it's now crap across the board & been named Dire Audio Broadcasting, so I'll stick to listening to the 6 changer cd for the best quality.

Lot's of UK stations have already or are moving from FM to DAB+ an Internet streaming only. Main reason is probably transmission costs.

The change from DAB to DAB+ is about the audio codec which uses less bandwidth, therefore they can cram in more stations you never listen to !! In theory the Mpeg4 Audio quality at lower data rate should be the same as the old Mpeg2, but it really depends how they setup the encoders.
