Hi,
Is it possible to play films for the kids through the DVD satnav or the 6 disc changer?
Or is there any way of adapting it to do so?
Thanks
Sam

By sheer coincidence I tried to play a DVD in my Sat Nav unit and it failed to read the disc - as Datatek stated it is a CD drive, but after I tried it the Sat Nav then kept spitting out the Sat Nav CD - it did eventually load but I was kicking myself for messing around with it for a few mins.

I did not say the SatNave unit is a CD drive, it's not, it's a DVD drive, still will not play standard CD's or DVD's thoughBy sheer coincidence I tried to play a DVD in my Sat Nav unit and it failed to read the disc - as Datatek stated it is a CD drive, but after I tried it the Sat Nav then kept spitting out the Sat Nav CD - it did eventually load but I was kicking myself for messing around with it for a few mins.

I stand correctednot entirely accurate, the mk3 was CDROM based and the mk4 is a DVD based unit
Rubbish, it's something for you to watch waiting for the recovery truck.![]()
It's a dedicated SATNAV unit be it a CD version or a DVD version, it will not play CD's or DVD's only SatNav discs.I know that the current format cannot play DVD's but can it be adapted to do so or some sort of new disc unit to make this work?
Or is it a case of a complete new system... surely the screen will display a film if a dvd reader is telling it to?
Thanks

The TV unit is a seperate unit with I believe an input for a DVD player. Not all cars have the TV module and those that do are often analogue which would need replacing for TV reception. It is illegal to have TV/DVD on a display that can be seen by the driver for obvious safety reasons. My point was can it be modified or anything replaced so I CAN play DVD's. I know I can't as it stands now.
In a word, no....
You can get plug in modules that can be used, TV in Motion is one that comes to mind....and there is the AV in on the TV module in the boot....not sure how that works though....
