i want to fit a second battery and i want to fit it in the void at the rear of the car beneath the 7 seats or the cubby boxes.

i mean the area under the boot floor either side of the fuel tank.

2 questions:

1, can it be done
2, how will i do it
3, will it survive
4, what precautions would you take and what materials would you use

yes i know thats 4 questions but i think they are valid. has it been done before in this place?

the wiring is not an issue, im thinking of some sort of box similar to the air pump box to mount and place the battery in.

maybe even use an air pump box and mount it beside the air pump, will it need to be water tight? also has anyone got any bits i can have to try this project out?

I have no room in engine bay as I have the webasto heater in the place where most put the second battery by the bulk head. I have a second battery spare and was looking for a place to mount it.

It just struck me as a bit of space with nothing in it. Looked ideal for a battery.

why the need?

Why would you need a webasto in a D2 anyway ?

I'd think you could fit it into the dickie seat slot though

if you don't need the space get a battery box (you can buy em ready made) and fit it in the back.

Could you not fit a bracket on the front underneath like the washer bottle and fit one there on the drivers side
