Hi

About to swap the ball joint cause its knackered. Have read busters tips, done a google search and everyone seams to say do the nut up to the recommended torque.

I can't find what that torque is supposed to be. Can anyone help with a quick answer?

Thanks

Ian.

Hi. Thanks for the answer.

I should have asked the question better, is that for the large nut that holds the drop arm onto the steering box.

I meant the small nut on the ball joint itself.

Sorry for any confusion with my badly asked question.

Cheers

Ian

Yes... that's the one that secures the drop arm onto the steering box splines. The drag link to drop arm nut is 40Nm or 30 lbf ft - apparently.

Anyone have any top tips for how to get the top half of the new socket in. Got the old one out easy, can't get the top to go back in fully and square.

Driving me nuts. Don't really want to take the drop arm off.

Anyone have any top tips?

Cheers

Ian

Sounds like I am doing it sort of right then.

Was using a large socket. Had a m10 bolt to wind it in place. Just keeps going on the ****. Looks a bit scored inside.

Will try lashings of copper slip and have another go.

Des that sound like a plan?
