Disco 300tdi is the vehicle.
So I've cleaned the switch and connected the passenger window to it and that works fine, so switch is ok.
I've put a meter on the plug for the window's switch and it registers 12v, so the switch has power to it.
Checked fuses. All ok.
I've replaced the window motor which was dead and checked the new motor is operating the window by connecting it direct to the battery... all fine.

Putting the meter on the points of the socket that the motor plugs into and I get no reading.

So I'm guessing the wiring? or is there something else I'm missing?

help!

Already had that out to fix the rear windows and could only see the one bad joint which I fixed.

Check the feed to + from the ecu ;)

Righty... I'm no expert with a meter but I've checked the points on the window ecu and all are are live bar the bottom two points whatever they are for. The points for the wires corresponding to the colour of the duff motor connector (grey/pink and grey/blue) are live out of the ecu. Assuming I've checked those correctly... where does that leave me?

I was getting a reading from one of the points on the socket in question when the switch was pressed but not any more.
I checked by the driver foot well and the block connector was dead too.

I'm thinking maybe I just run 2 new wires from close to the ecu?

Job done, almost!

Chucked in 2 new wires from the ecu and was working fine... lose connection at the mo but once thats sorted its done! :D

Daz, any idea about this one..

had it all working and now all i get is a clicking from the ecu when trying the switch for either of the front windows... both rear work fine.
TYried another ecu but same clicking

have you rechecked the fuses?
sounds like the main window motor feeds are dead, so the ECU is switching them on but as no power they don't work.

we know the switches work as they cause the ECU to react, so must be a power issue. check the fuses with your meter 12v in and 12v out, check for the power at the ECU if all ok check power output, one thing to have look at is the door harness as it passes from the body to the door, cables can break there.

Yeah really should have gone back to the fuses earlier!

lol oh well, all working like a charm again! Just as well I got another ecu too, combination of a shot ecu and a fuze gone again done me right over!

Thanks!!! :D
