What are they? the wading kit is on, the snorkel is on, the solanoid is in the cab and now i hear about this! plugs in where???
 
You'll need one in the bottom of the bell-housing, and one in the bottom of the cambelt cover if it's a belt driven motor. Put them in for wading, then take em out after, as the holes are there to drain oil that would otherwise contaminate the belt or clutch.

i am waiting for 2 rubber bungs that came supposed to come with the wading kit but i was led to believe they wernt important at all as any water that found its way in could get back out easy? is that not the case?
 
Yes it will come out again, but the question is how much oil and clag will it have washed all over your cambelt and clutch:eek:
 
Drain plugs only need to be removed every 60K miles, but most peeps remove them on a more regular basis.
 
We all have to start somewhere, and you're in the best place to pick it up, as long you don't mind a bit of banter and a ragging every now and then:)
 
oh right great, appreciate that. when they turn up ill pop them in and they can stay there for a while then. should i do anything to try dry out what might already be in there?

I used to leave them out all the time, then started fitting them before every greenlaning session and taking them out again ... Nowadays I leave them in pretty much all the time, just taking them out when I service it, so every blue moon ... ;)
 
I would see how your particular LR goes. If when you remove yours after getting wet and find there is some water then it may be prudent to remove often. I find that after 2 or 3 sessions I have a couple of drops so dont worry doing it too much (2 or 3 months).
 
There is a full wading kit fitted on it, just don't have the plugs, was underneath today routing the winch wires and I'm sure I found what needs plugging up.
