Perhaps easier to paint if not assembled but I'd buy them complete personally ....Always good to have the spare glass.
I bought the Rocky Mountain ones for mine last year. Not cheap but it's very handy to have both sections of glass to slide open and they won't rust again.

If it is complete but supplied in primer, you will still have to take it apart to paint behind runners etc and inside faces or it will rust.

Quite well made tbh, but as said, take them apart and paint inside or they will start to rust quite quickly.

Yes and through hole for window lock if series 3 type- for which one could use wax oil or similar.
