Given up on the switch mod? I think I used 18swg when I made a spring, not sure stainless has the right characteristics though, I used piano wire.

It has to be smaller than the finished diameter. If you are making a 1 inch diameter spring, mandrel would need to be around 3/4 inch. Trial and error is involved.

You mean the spring inside the boot button (that turns to dust) ? The one that spring guy was selling with a an o-ring for silly money?

You need arthritis to stiffen the thumb up to open now lol. I like it that way though, stops anyone going in my boot unless you have the knack for it

Plus try using open palm of your hand rather than thumb. Gentler on thumb and button
