Just looking at replacing the door seals as they let in a bit of water when I was at the Salisbury Plains.

Having inspected them around the base of the door I am not surprised!

Given the Disco door seals are expensive and hard to find, are the defender ones similar that I could use, as just wanting to replace the bottom half really - so cut out what I need - anyone done anything similar?

Cheers

Look at camper van roof seals, they are just lengths of rubber that provide a waterproof seal, you can get in any length and a variety of different styles so you can pick the best to suit...

I would guess you would be better off replacing the seal as a whole or at least the bottom half because the less joins the better I would of thought to stop water and dust seeping through

was going to replace them from the bottom of the window, as above that they seem fine, and not really wanting to go in water deeper than that

just thought I would post up what Ihave done, incase anyone else searches for this same topic.

In the end I have bought the seals from Rimmer Brothers...

Discovery 1 Door Aperture Seal - Set of 4 - Black at www.rimmerbros.co.uk

Not badly priced, a I could get 8 metres of seal delivered for £45.00 which would replace all the doors from below the windows - this way I am replacing all the doors seals for an extra tenner....and they have no slits in them for drainage or as we all know for letting in water....

I'd be interested to know how to go about this as mine need doing. No idea where to start really!!

hopefully should get them tomorrow, so when I fit them, will take pics and let you know how I get on.

Door seals landed. Got 4 lengths of the seal, one for each door.

Very easy to do, pull off old seal then feed on the new seal.

I started from the 90 degree corner angle at the top of the window, and went round the doors from there, just using a screwdriver handle to get it nicely into the corners, snip off the excess and jobs done. All for around £55.00.

One less water leak to worry about ;)

Will do - although when I was fitting them, I lifted up the carpets etc doing a bit of checking, and came across 3 holes - only the front passenger side was free of holes - I think - so these are now all welded/sealed, so hopefully I am slowly getting there with water ingress.....doubt I will be ever completely there - but every little helps :D

Managed to test the seals at the weekend at the Extreme off road course at the Bath & West show - all good - dry feet :D
