Brack?
Makes sense to me to buy cheaper and if probs occur theres money in the bank to cover itWhy would anyone want a petrol to spend a grand on repairs?![]()
Look for Freelander 2.0 Di or varients - no idea how they drive - never had one but Im sure someone else will help you on that oneAre the rover diesel engines the xdi or what ever? pre 2001? They are nice and cheap! I was just under the impression the td4 was the one to go for. I really enjoyed the drive in the td4 today, more so than the 1.8 I tried yesterday.

makes poor sense. Its better to avoid problems and with a petrol freelander a grand in the bank will no last long if problems arise. Money Pit springs to mind.
diesel all the time with FL1
Just been having a look on ebay as my seach continues.
Found this and it looks right up my street. More than I wanted to pay but if it's worth it then might worth a punt! Going to get up for as soon as they open tomorrow at 11am.
The garage owner said the previous owner was in the land rover owners club or something and its obviously modified so thought I'd ask on here if anyone knows about its history?

They don't have any service history but the garage bloke said it certainly drives well.
Damn, just realised its a boomin automatic!
Looks low on coolant, spare wheel still silver hmmm

The K series will cost £300 tops to do the HG if you can do the spanner work you self? If a TD4 needs 4 injectors the costs a way more than that. The TD4 can be an excellent engine but if it goes wrong it'll cost big money to sort.

Well, only gone and got it. Looked at a couple today and this one was great! Can't wait to detail it though (what I do for a living). In all fairness the paint wasn't too bad. No rust anywhere - which was important to me. It did have a bit of a scrape but it had been filled and hasn't noticeable.
Driving an auto was strange. Got used to it by the end of the test drive. Drove it for a good 15 minutes. No signs of coolant loss or temp gauge rising higher than it should. I know 15 minutes isn't long but it had been idling for 10 minutes while I looked around it. Started up first time all round. No funny squeeks or bangs. Front and rear prop both there. 3 months warranty so I guess I did pay a lot of money but buying from a garage gives me a bit more piece of mind.
Couple of niggles I will eventually sort out - No idea what to do with the CD player. Do these things lock themselves? It just did a series of beeps when I tried to switch it on. The clock was funny probably needs replacing. The steering wheel was a little worn (what do you expect on a 119k car?) Need new gear stick gator. These are all minor things really and I can do them as and when. However, I do like the interior of a car to be nice -after all it's where I sit! The main thing was engine/drive and body work for me.
Oh there was some oil around the oil cap. However, I tried to get the oil cap off an I am sure it was on properly and that it couldn't leak. To be honest, it looked like a bit of it had been spilt and not cleaned up.
I asked about the coolant and he said he would top it up. The coolant also looked like normal water/non coloured. I'll give it a service and flush the system out anyway I think for piece of mind.
I didn't see any sign of cruise control? To be honest, I probably don't know what a lot of the buttons did to be honest.
I had a go with the car driving it manually and it was strange so I thought I'd get used to driving it auto first. Am I right there is only gears 1,2, 4 when driving manual? Very odd when it changes up and down. Something I will have to get used too. Was the first time I'd ever driven an auto, probably wasn't very smooth.
evan less there are 3 mobile mech's covering the uk and one that also goes to france that will come to you at petrol cost fit a new multi layer steel gasket /cam belt and water pump for £300 they all have a very good reputation on the k-series engineThe K series will cost £300 tops to do the HG if you can do the spanner work you self? Good luck with your purchase bud ...happy days![]()
I'd been quoted £300 for it fixing if it went wrong by the garage who were trying to sell it me.
