Hi all.

Tiny is in need of your help as her owner does not have a clue when it comes to electrics! :confused:

Dead easy (for some) - fuse blown on N/S headlamp. 10amp.
No N/S sidelights front of rear.
Replaced fuse - blown again.
Checked bulbs - all ok.
Disconnected wiring to front and rear lights and replaced fuse.
Blown again as soon as lights turned on.
Blulbs still unscathed.

Can anyone help / point me in the right direction?

I have visually checked the wires front and rear for chaffing but all seems ok. Anyone had this before and know how to fix it?

Help me obi wan kanobe..your'e my only hope....:(
 
Reet tiny ya need ta get yer terminology ah bit clearer eg, full beam /dip beam, not tryin ta be a smart arse but on your model ya have a lot of 10amp and 15amp lighting circuits plus mixed side lights with lighting level motors need to find out what its f number is then you can find out how many true circuits you could be lookin at also you have. . . .na jist tell me wot number fuse un i'll run ya through it. . . .:)

Headlight adjusters and heater panel lights also out.

I have a multimeter but am gonna need some serious basic instructions if you need me to use it. God I am hopeless with electrics!!:(
 
Try disconnecting the headlight adjuster on the side you have the issue with.

Its a matter of elimination for each device using the same circuit, it takes time but you should get there.

My guess would be corroded connections to the adjusters.
 
Thanks Zippy. Disconnected all the adjusters and the connectors for the lighs front and rear..same thing - blows as soon as sidelights switched on. Slowly running out of fuses LOL.
 
ok f28 on your model . . .is after the light switch so one would assume that fl2 in ya engine fuse box would blow if the switch was faulty and at 60amps er lot of smoke un mess so we will fergit that fer now. . .so f28 feeds three things with three cables1=lh cluster[side lamp] +lh headlight level motor. . .red un black[cable colour] . . .2=lh light cluster [tail lamp] + trailer connection [at rear rhs off rear door under plastic cowel] red un black [cable colour ] 3= headlight level switch int cab and also feeds both control to left un right level motors [red un black again] . . .ok quite a lot then . . .spoke to porky as he.s got a zog certificate in leccy made easy [snort] the difficult one and to porkys mind yer favourite is yer trailer bit, if you have a trailer socket ,then this is the one to try first, have a look un let me know. . .un best oh luck. . . .:)

Hang on - the lights on the heater buttons have packed in too...would this be related?
 
ok ,shame bout the trailer skt as that would be no1 , ok the easy way to do this is to find all the easy to disconnect items that i listed for you and you will have to do them all one at a time and they all have that same colour. . .so first=lh cluster side light+lh level motor. . .switch on side lights wif new fuse, if it blows then go to second=lh rear tail light+trailer connection[on some models it changes to brown cable fer some stupid reason, ok did fuse blow ,if yes then i have deliberately left the worst fer last . . .let me know and i will try un guide you. . .happy huntin :) :) :)

sorry should have said 'it also controls [all] ya instrument lighting, but have left this to last as its least likely. . . .trust me snort:D :D :D
 
Come on Tiny, don't keep us flapping! I had a wiring cluster melted up in the boot of me Bimmer, took ages to find it.. found it by putting a 25amp fuse in and turning everything on, then it were just a case of tracing the smoke back to the loom....:eek:
 
Right folks.
Well first of all I would just like to say a big thank you for your help - proving once again LandyZone is a corking forum full of very productive and helpful individuals.;)
Following your advice Ming I disconnected everything on that circuit and then re-connected one by one. It was only when I went to re-connect up my rear lights that I noticed something was amiss as about half a litre of water poured out. Job done - leaky seal.
Yep - it was as simple as that. (And me by the looks of things!):D
