i had a 200tdi conversion but kept old 19j gearbox and there is this annoying ticking noise coming from it?? also the clutch which i was told was a new one,! gives off a noisy rattle when sat idle and stops when peddle pressed in, this happens intermitenly? also what other symptoms would there be if both knackered? please help if ya can. cheers Paul

it is quite common to get a rattle when idling after fitting new clutch more so with heavy duty clutch which goes away with increased idle or depressing clutch ,usually goes after time ,borg beck did make an improved clutch plate years ago which did fix this as changing a clutch previous was a gamble ,not usually a gear box fault even though sounds like it

Think mine's got the same problem. :(

Just to confirm:

Clutch pedal no pressure until about 2 inches from the floor, difficult to engage gears, noisy rattle when stationary with clutch out (stops when dipping clutch).

Initially I thought it might have been something to do with the clutch hydraulics, but starting to think it's the bearing or the pushrod thing now.

Reckon I can fit a new clutch kit in a day?:D

release brg whines when worn, no pedal till near floor either air in system ,or adjustment on master cylinder rod underneath 6 screws on top of pedal box
