Hi Lads,
Has anyone on here swapped thier DMF on a TD5 for a solid flywheel? And how did you get one with it?
Cheers JP
Ya I have been doing research and I spoke to the guys in transmissions as I work in powertrain at JaguarLandrover, but want to hear some "real world stories" its as i expected. The other thing that people wont think about is that guys like me will have calibrated the driveability to the dual mass flywheel and if you replaced it the pedal maps would be all wrong and besides shock loading the trans the driveability will be crap!
So you are a engineer for Jag/land rover then? Thought a company like jag/LR would have there research done before they discontinued a model
I'd leave well alone, but that's the way my mind works, fitted DMF for a good reason.
Perhaps you could give some of your collegues in the design department some hints on useful design. From D3 and RR sport on some of the design features are so poor you have to wonder what they were thinking. My only conclusion is that design only takes into account ease of assembly on the line. There appears to be no thought that anyone will have to work on these cars after.Body removal to do an engine swap - is that really necessary ? Fuel pump belts on TDV6's,now there is a clever idea.I could go on - and on and on.Ya I have been doing research and I spoke to the guys in transmissions as I work in powertrain at JaguarLandrover, but want to hear some "real world stories" its as i expected. rakeway engineering produce a solid flywheel and various performance clutch kits for td5
