spoke to my mechanic and he cant do it for a couple of weeks but i dont no if i can wait that long ,can i take the rocker cover off and try to free it my self or am i likely to do more damage than good can anyone or has anyone god any good ideas pleaseeeeeeeeeee

How do you know you have a stuck valve??

Burnt valve, valve clearance too tight, fouled plug etc etc. Have you done a compression check??

remove rocker cover and look to see if thet all go up down smothly when you turn engine over by hand ,you can hear valve thats blowing

no not done any of the above he took spark plug out to see it was sparking and it didnt make any diference to it ticking over sohe came to stuck vale conclusion

check manifold gasket while your checking the other stuff, it will be sooty were/if blowing

Easy to see - just take the rocker cover off. Its only three nuts. Then turn the engine over on the starter or by hand and make sure everything moves as it should.
Has the engine been standing some time then? I might be wrong but valves shouldn't stick if the motor has been running fine. If it is a stuck valve then I would just make sure that the piston is not hitting it by turning the engine over by hand with the plugs out and feeling for a tight spot or noise. Then start it up and lever the valve shut with a tyre lever or screw driver or something similar. It should work itself loose again as it warms up. I had the same problem with a loory engine that was standing for about 20 years. It was an old Austing with a 4 ltr pretrol engine. It didn't get much use and the valves always used to stick.

you were right redhand put a new set of plugs in and set gap on points runs really well had to buy feeler guages and aspanner to get me plugs out apart from that i am learning thanks
