Hi all.

Fitted Old Man Emu springs and shocks (HD 2 inch lift on front and medium 2 inch lift on rear) to my v8 90 6 months ago, less than 5,000 km since and say 5 offroading ragging desert trips. When I had fitted them my local independant landy garage comented that 'these come with polybushes but they are not as good as original bushes because when they fail they break off in big chunks'.

I dismissed this on the back of what I read and thought oh well they will not fail for at least 5 yrs.

I went offroading on friday - gave the car some stick and on saturday when washing the chassis noticed that the rear offside top shock bush was splitting and I was able to break a big piece off.

To be honest I think this is crxp. Been very impressed with the suspension and actual improved handling but the bush failure has really p'd me off. So what to do now - replace with original bushes, replace with an OME bush or replace all bushes with a set of polybushes from uk??? So far only polybushes I have are on springs and socks.

So - what shall I do ? and if the answer is replace with full set of polybushes which manufacturer is best??thanks in advance for any guidance.

alot of people on here have complaints about the poor quality and lack of life of polybushes, wether original or 3rd party (deflex, pro-whatever their called). most folk say fit OME bushes. polys seem to only last 1-2years.

you dont say what milage you have covered with the sus upgrade in place?

good choice on the old man emu. ive heard good things about them

straight poly bushes are known to disintigrate, specially the ome wuns. if u put grease on them when fitted it kinda accelerates the disintigration. either fit originals, or get bushes that are a 50/50 poly/rubber mix. tend to last longer that the originals, but if u do serious offroad **** i would suggest u replace the lot at least every 25,000 km. couldn't tell ya the make, but i get mine imported from the UK an they are really good. the local garage gets em for me, but can get the make for ya

Thanks guys.

griffdog - I have covered only 5k km since fitting. really happy with suspension but not with bushes.

Bushtoy - would be happy with 25k km but 5 takes the p.would be great if you could recomend supplier,

think I may just replace all with original - at the end of the day the guys in solihull know what they are doing.

cheers
