I know you've all seen plenty of rust but I thought I would start my own project thread since starting on the boot floor last week.

I've owned this Disco (my 4th) for a year now after my last one suffered a severely rotting chassis that was basically broken in half.

This one was fairly clean and had never been off roaded and had the electric leather seats I wanted but also is an EDC auto which I am now regretting.

Well after suffering wet feet during last winters floods I decided to get the boot changed before this winter sets in.

Removing the carpets revealed this:

Not the worse I've seen but there are a few patches to be sorted.

So currently I am at the stage where the floor is out and I am getting the chassis cleaned up and protected.

This is what she looks like when cleaned up.

Looking good there. I am sure you will find more rust the deeper in to the project, I know I have and in some right pain in the ass areas to weld

I have already had the front foot wells done and some holes in the rear of the sill done which turned into body mount and inner sill repairs along with the water channels on the sills that had holes.

So apart from the front inner wings all the rust is going to be sorted with the boot floor.

I plan some extensive rust prevention while this is being done.

Is that a wet beach your on in the last pic? if so you will be finding a lot more rust in the future! salt water is a BIG no no, you get that in the chassis and the salt will remain in there and eat its way through from the inside out every time theres moisture present.

It was a wet beach, one of the few in Wales that allowed cars on.

But it was cleaned and has been through plenty of fresh water fords since. There was no sea water driven through and only slow driving allowed.

No mate you were a good 80+ miles away from me (a good 2 and a half hours welsh time!) All looks the bloody same, we got a place like that near us I used to go down when I was younger.
