I have an issue with my discovery 2 td5. Its an 03 with 165,500 miles. It is a pain to start sometimes. When it does start it runs fine all revs all gears. However it then starts to judder like its misfiring and then not long after about 5mins, it cuts out. It is a pain to start again but when it does it lets out a cloud of smoke and and drives fine until it dies the same again. I've had the injector seals and washers done on the advice of my local garage. I'm due to pick it up tomorrow. Do you think this is the right thing to do? Thanks. Look forward to hearing back.

Hello, yes this can cause the issue you are facing and also a fuel pump that's on its last legs.

Also....oil in loom and ecu can cause issues

I had a similar issues, back in the Summer. Left me stranded on the Mway...

On mine I found the following.

Crank sensor was failing when it got hot. Leave it 10 minutes to cool down and it would start again, run for 5 miles then stop again. Changed this and the cutting out issue was solved.
I also changed the fuel filter housing as it was in a bad state.
However it still had an issue with starting in the morning.
I changed the injector seals and washers , straight away it fixed the starting issue.

okay cool. We'll picked up my truck tonight. New injector seals and washers and new injector wiring harness. Started on the button and drives like new. It has never pulled like this before. Did discover however that my heater controls (non climate control) don't light up anymore or the clock. Minor details just glad to have my old girl back on the road.
