What am I looking for guys?
Seen one advertised at 116 BHP?? not all 136 then?
Clutch issues with these? looking at one with 163,000 on the clock.

Any Advice would be appreciated..I'm aiming to change 1993 200tdi 90 to a Discovery for a little more comfort, appreciating the electronic gremlins.

Is a chip to improve performance/pulling any advantage or should I leave alone?

As far as i know all discoverys are 135 bhp and the defender 116 bhp.as for clutch dmf that depends on how its been used. just because pedal is hard to push doesnt mean clutch on way out.prob slave or master cylinder. so long as it bites low.
the rear chassis rails are an issue. just had new ones on mine.they rust on lower seams and up sides of fuel tank give em a good tap no ring mean lots of rust they rot inside out.
 
Purely your choice re. chipping, but I think there may be insurance probs. Also, never had any trouble towing with any D1 or D2 I've used. Just find the best one you can.

Moving from a TDi 200 to a TD5 you may find initially that the TD5 feels a little under-powered lower down the rev range range.

This is due to: lower gear ratios on the TDi 200, plus a known issue on the TD5 of a lack of torque in the 1500-2400 rpm range. Easily and cheaply cured with a re-map - I would recommend Mike at Dynachip as a bloke who really knows his stuff and won't leave until you are entirely satisfied. He will also do a 'health check' on your enjoy to ensure all is working correctly, BEFORE doing the re-map.

Check the rear chassis as others have said PLUS if it has ACE check the pipework underneath very carefully for leaks and corrosion. These pipes are expensive and difficult to replace successfully.

Well, it's here now.. apart from my short legs problem therefore a bit uncomfy, I'm genuinely pleased so far, yes.

Not forgetting it's a Commercial, can I simply put the electric motors & switches in for rear door windows?? The wiring is in the doors, not checked the console at the front, but I guess it will be there to operate rear windows from the front too.

Just need to search ' you know where' for some rear door motors and 'gummins'?
