Hi I've just bought a 1998 discovery and noticed on the rear window there are four wires just hanging two each side not connected to any terminals I don't know anyone else with a discovery that I can look at to see how they conect to the glass can anyone help ?

Based on a D 1, They are not for the demister as that has a single wire each side do the screen (supply / earth) much like your hight level brake light with a supply earth only.

As u have just bought the vehicle why not ask the seller.

(These are on the same side as the door lock, the other side is the same)

Two wires are for the brake light - does yours have one fitted?

No wires for a high level brake light on a 1998MY disco, it picks up it's power supply from a bonded track on the glass, similar to the screen element

Have a look it's the wider of the two tracks at the top of the glass.

But how does the supply get to the bonded track?

Mine has two wires each side. Two to the heated screen and two to the brake light via the glass.

It does not have a brake light I have noticed this evening that the two side windows in the boot have demisters on them I presume the two wires each side link up the three windows

I think the side windows are radio aerials rather than demisters.
