Hi,

ive just bought my self my first landy, a straight S1 Disco on a 97 plate. I foolishly didnt check if the transfer gear stick moved. It seems to be stuck in High range, and cant seem to move it. Without wanting to force it i thought id see if any one here can point me in the right direction of how i can free it up.

i would remove consol and gaiter underneath remove housing if lever seized and strip rebuild in clean lubricated condition ensuring hi/low and diff lock fully function both ways and adjust to ensure they do jacking front wheel up helps to ensure correct engagement

That can be a good sign, I usually means it's not had much need for low range.
Mine was seized solid and as JM said, strip it out, stick the mechanism in a vice and apply loads of WD40 and elbow grease and it should free up eventually!
