Hi, could anyone please tell me how to remove the radio from a disco3? It's only the basic radio and I would like to see if I can access the aux imput. (the car doesn't havethe socket in the rear).
Cheers.

Does it have any holes in the front of the face?
If there are only 2, inside the holes there are little allen bolts that need to be undone, by inserting an allen key in the front.
If there are 4 bend a coat hanger into a U shape and insert these in and pull out.
Hope this helps,

Sorry, disregaurd the above advice was thinking Disco "2" Have looked at a few "3" pics and am stumped. hopefully someone else will know.

its screwed in, you need to pull off the console sides, its all in one piece and comes out compete with the vents.

Grab the console trim at the bottom on both sides and pull towards you, the whole lot will come off, once thats off, you'll see the screws for the radio.

If you have the lowline (base model spec) then there wont be an aux input.

Hi, no need to remove the radio as the aux wiring for the DVD can be accessed from the passenger side front kick panel. I did mine about 12 months ago and the ipod sounds great. Cost about £2.50 to do:) . I'll post the instructions when I find them. I'm believe that the radio unit is also connected to the security system and can completely kill the car if not removed correctly. h

Here they are

1. Remove the passenger side front kickpanel trim (unscrew the bonnet release handle first then pull firmly toward the centre console).

2. Locate the grey multiplug which is the middle of the three.

3. Unplug the 2 halves of the connector and carefully remove the blue, red and black wires from the block (they are held in with clips so a small flat blade screwdriver should do the trick).

Note: These wires terminate here and are only used if the LR DVD system is fitted so you won't cause any problem by disconnecting them.

4. Using a standard commercially available 3.5mm stereo extension lead (Maplins etc) simply solder the lead into the red blue and black wires. Red and blue are left and right channel and black is ground/screen.

5. Route the cable to your chosen location (mine runs to the front of the centre console near the 12v lighter plug etc but you could run it to the centre console stowage box or anywhere conveniant)

6. Re-fit the trim plate, plug in the ipod or other aux audio source

PM for more if you need photos as I don't know how to do them yet
