My disco driver door mechanism has decided to turn itself inside out.
Has anyone got any fixes? I have seen a few posts about the drive wheel welds breaking, but nothing about the thin flimsy arms bending and screwing up. Anyone got any tips ( or a spare mechanism?)

hi mate,mine was doing exactly the same,in the end i had to bend it back to shape as best i could and replace the glass channel that the glass sits in,got the rbber strip too but couldnt get the glass in to it so i just siliconed the glass in to it,job done,by the way mines a 1997 300tdi,hope that helps...

buy anew one there only about £20 once straightened they will bend again

Thanks James - I hadnt really looked, but yes - they seem to be from about £14 - I am surprised. I will check local prices tomorrow.

Is there any way of strengthening them, as they seem very flimsy?

Did mine a little while ago the biggest problem was the bolts had pulled through the inner door, although the part the motor boltd to had cracked in several places and it was bent to foook anorl

.

Welded it up, straightened bent bits welded big washers to inner door

all good now but will get round to fitting new regulator' just couldn't get one at the time.
