Took the Disco 1 to a pay and play today. Ended up grounded in a 4ft deep lake :mad:

Water inside the landy above the pedals. Opened the doors and tilted to each side after I was pulled out backwards :eek: Got most of the water out.

Trouble is, carpets are soaked. I think there are two parts to it. Have vaxed them and they seem dry but I can still feel squiging under the carpet in places.

Don't want to leave it like it for very long. Need to know how to get the carpets out quickly.

Landy in question is an R reg 1998 auto.

It'll be the sound-absorbing sponge mat underneath the carpets that squidging. If you leave it it's go straight through your floor panels.

Lift the carpets out, lift the mat out and put in shed for when you sell the car, dry your carpet sand put back in car.
 
You can write off that soundproofing and put it in the bin, basically. Its probably already wet, mouldy and will disintegrate on removal. Also, beware the wiring loom is cable tied to it in a few places (either side of the centre console, towards the front).

So, you might as well cut the lower bits, while leaving the small section around the centre console, ie cut just below where the wires are.
 
So it should all just lift out? I'll rip seats and carpets out tomorrow then :)

Will also squirt a bit of waxoyl under there if I've got some in the shed!
 
You'll need to make a small cut to the carpet to get it out, unless you want to disassemble the dashboard/heater.
