Hello all,

Im new to this forum and new to land rovers.

Today i took the oppurtunity to buy a disco cheap well i think its cheap its a 1993 K reg 2.5 tdi 7 seater in blue £250

I need advice on whether to commit to fixing or scrap it in for parts.

Right its got no tax no mot and has the following faults...

CORROSION in my eyes badly, The boot floors gone and you can see the ground glad i didnt put the kids in the back. is this fixable?

CORROSION on the sills holes all down them they look bad again can this be sorted?

The rear door wont open although the handle feels attatched still and the locks working just wont open.

On the plus side its got a brilliant engine no smoke smooth and rattle free and has covered 125k the gearbox is smooth and rattle free diff lock works no suspension faults.

The chassis i had a look at today and its spotless not a single bit of corrosion infact it looks newish the diffs have corrosion on them but the chassis looks good.

So what would you do keep or dismantle i dont want more than 1k in it and i can weld although im more experianced on arc and not mig.

Do i have a relatively decent one or is it scrap material i will post piccys of it.

Many thanks

Craig

I just bought one for 500 quid that I'm going to break to upgrade my 110 so for 250 you've done alright. You could afford to spend a fair few hundred on it and still not be out of pocket if you flogged it on with a new MOT.

Or come to think of it you'd probably get the best part of 500 for it on ebay as it is:)

PS. Keep it and repair, they are good vehicles!!

WOW thank you for such a speedy and welcoming response.

Im from west yorkshire bradford.

I must say from the last few hours of searching the net the only thing left concerning me is those sills. Ive found a place that sells new boot floors for £62 so not as half has bad as i thought.

Just those sills does anyone know if i can buy replacement sills or would it need patch welding i think its beyond this in my opinion.

Im looking forward to getting the work done and having a proper drive.

Many thanks for replying

Hi Craig, re new floors, crossmembers (you're likely to need them) and sills, follow this link:
