where could water get that would cause a disco TD5 to kangaroo during acceleration. Engine revs fine when in neutral but won’t accelerate smoothly. It’s happening after crossing fords or driving through puddles.

pulled over and opended the air box as the amount of rain we had was collosal. I had to pull over for 10 minutes as I couldn't see out the Windscreen. Anyway water seemed to have found it's way into the air intake even though I have a snorkel fitted. (points rearward too). The filter was sodden too. Looks like I may have a leak in the intake somewhere or, drive slower when its raining.

Does the engine die if you cover the snorkel inlet?

Edit: Stoopid question if there's water in the air filter...

I haven't actually tried, but will do in the morning. I'm actually scared to fix this simple item because it seems when ever you fix something, something else comes along
