hi everyone

my disco 2 (52 plate facelift) did a peculiar thing the other day, sitting in traffic she had the slightest hiccup or misfire then temp gauge started climbing north!
banged heater full up and traffic started moving and temp came back from say 2 o clock back to 3 o clock on gauge.

plenty water, no pressure in pipes.......only thing I can find that bothers me is the thermostat, the two pipes that go into bottom of thermostat are roasting hot after a run but the single pipe out the other side of stat is stone cold? even last night after a good 20 mile spirited run, stil cold that pipe.

surely there should have been hot water flowing trough it?

radiator feels cold but not easy to get hand in to feel

plenty heat out heater, small return flow to expansion tank, not sure hoe big that flow should be?

top hose from top radiator to cylinder head hot like two pipes that go to stat.

I think temp gauge sits half the needle higher now, but im not sure if this is my imagination!!!

pulled 2 ton of feed then 3 big cattle to market the other day no probs

I think you may have answered your own question there !.

The thermostat would be my first port of call.
How many miles you on ?.

yes, replace the stat asap as it's blocked closed, when the gauge leaves the middle the ECU goes in overheat protection and reduces fueling that's why that sensation of missfire... also running it overheated could cause serious damage to the head

113k so just run in! If rest of truck allows it is like herto last til at least 150k

Aye, phoned two land rover places as soon as it happened, and since I've asked them about
water hoses and none of their responses filled me with any confidence!
Will change stat asap, see if that helps!
