In my 1998 Discovery 2 TD5 (auto-to-manual converted), I’ve encountered some strange behavior from the accelerator pedal. Sometimes it works normally, but other times it cuts throttle down to about 20% and then returns to normal.
The last time it happened, the throttle was cutting in and out rapidly, causing the whole car to shake.
I connected my Nanocom — no fault codes or errors were present.
Yesterday, I cleaned the red plug on the ECU, which had a small amount of oil in it, but that didn’t make any difference in cars acting. Do you have any ideas what to check or do to fix it?

On such converted vehicles nothing is strange and hard to diagnose cos the diagrams dont match anymore and depends very much how big of a specialist was who worked on it. Was a manual ECU fitted after the mechanical conversion?

Record "inputs fuelling" on SD card from a drive as to catch the symptom and share the file here then we'll speak

2001 TD5 I had years ago, the throttle pedal tracks wore out on one side.
New to me 2nd hand pedal assy sorted it.

Use your nanocom to watch the voltages of the brake pedal when pressing it/driving, if your foot is constant and the voltage is sporadic and the symptoms happen then it’s the brake pedal.

Still on Auto ECU, just change settings in Nanocom from auto to manual but that’s in BCU as far as I know.
Okay I will record it next time I drive.
Thanks a lot.

Okay will check it, thanks a lot.

Okay first I will check via Nanocom voltages etc.

Okay, I will do that and report what I’ve seen

Thanks a lot to everyone. After today’s drive I’ve also seen that sometimes under 2000rmp there is no power and around 2000rpm car accelerates with full power.
