Hi everyone can you perhaps help. my Disco does not have any power upon take off it seems to bog the motor especially now that I have to use the aircon because our tempretures are 30c plus, a friend of mine has a vehicle with higher mileage which almost takes off at idle using his air con.
I have replaced injectors and the balance between clyinders is well within the specs. I have heard that there was a problem with the ECU on the early models. has anybody got any suggestions?

Looking forward to hearing from you

sounds like an air flow meter problem

get it checked on T4, readings should be 60kg/hr at idle and 350kg/hr at 3000rpm, any lower and you'll have lack of power.

Its a fairly common fault on td5's

Also make sure the turbo's wastegate is really free - they are prone to sticking and if they dont fully close it will be gutless at low revs. The engine ecu must have 100% control of the wastegate for the engine to perform properly, the turbo is capable of full boost at about 2100rpm under load, and will start to waste boost from there on up.If the EGR valve isnt fully seated when its not needed, this could also cause your problem.

Thanks Clutchdust, I presume the T4 is the computer test equipment used by Land Rover. Ill get them to check it.

Eightinavee, thanks for your imput too I ll let you guys know the outcome,

Ray

Hi clutchdust & Eightinavee,

I have checked wastegate and EGR valve all OK,

I also checked the Air flow meter readings they were approx 42 @idle and 240 3000rpm, I did not have a spare so I cleaned the sensor and took new readings 53@idle and 290 @ 3000 rpm and it made a big difference it now drives well. Thanks once agian for your imputs.:D :D :D

I have tuning dealer in Durban, Berea if you want a chip or remap ???

What ecu number do you have fitted ,, its located on a sticker on the end of the ecu.

ecu located under the bonnet next to battery.

This car would be a chip change if you wanted a performance remap due to the old type ecu fitted.

I have a dealer in SA with my tuning tools ive personaly never been there.
If you require any more info his email address is
