:) hello,
when we discussed wiring the amp and sub a few week ago we sort of worked out how to do it, came to do mine today but when i got to it i found the connector into the amp doesn't go back anywhere near the head unit it must have been chopped by a previous owner. so I've no idea what the six wires are that plug into the amp. audio in? live? switchable live? ground? :confused:
anyone with any info would be a big help :)
 
The only wires from the head unit direct to the sub are the red and black pair in a single plug (on the original unit) The supply must be picked up somewhere else in the loom. I just fitted mine as per previous discussion but so far have no output.

so am a bit stumped:confused: still it'll give me something to mess with until i purchase a new pair of woofers the originals are fubar'd
 
same state as you now rev, found where they were chopped and reconnected, hooked up the red and black wires to the sub output - but nothing-no sound :( (not even a crackle and bang what i was half expecting!)
 
I replaces the 2 speakers in the rear pillars with Kenwood ones. Sounds good but could do with more bass!
 
I've installed a separate amp under the front passenger seat to feed a 10in sub in a box fitted in the boot.
The audio and switch power source is taken directly from the tailgate amp, 'T ing' to the black wire from the screened black & white cable is the audio feed to the new amp and I found that the green wire to the door amp is the amp switching wire so this was also extended to the new amp but via a very small 2way switch, so I can switch back to the door amp when I remove the box for space in the boot.

Both the underseat and the door amp have a permanant 12v supply and are switch on by the (standard) head unit so I still have control on the amount of bass going to the amp's as normal ie + 4 or -4. I normaly run on 0 but plus 4 is hair raising... not the type of thing done by an owners of Land Rovers i hope unless u own a white basball cap.

i cut-in some 6x9 jbl's into the rear pillars its a lot better (nothing like the quality they were in my last car they came out of!) but as you say needs more bass theres not enough room behind them to get the air to drive them. need the sub working but ive come to a bit of a dead end with that at the mo:mad:
 
Hi all, I have a Disco TDi300 with this subwoofer on the back door. I run the std. radio/cassette currently, NO CD changer.

The sub woofer is not working. I've taken it apart and it APPEARS to be all wired but no sound.

Checked all the fuses - nothing blown.

Anyone got any bright ideas to make it work please?
 
Right, this morning I've had the radio out and all the connections at the back, inc the red & black wires, are all plugged in.

What I did notice however, was that they (subwoofer speakers) ARE working, but at a miniscule sound level, almost vibration only and they sound distorted.

So I'm wondering if the amp has blown.

I'm planning on buying a new head unit this week, so we'll see what difference that makes.

Any other ideas always welcome.
