My mate is on the hunt for a Disco & being a (four times) Range Rover classic owner I've offered to go with him when he views any possible candidates. I'm well versed in checking the structure of any RRC but does the Disco 1 have any additional rot areas? Also, although he would much prefer a V8 the market may dictate a diesel, which I know diddly-squat about, so any basic tips on these engines would be much appreciated.
 
Rust is pretty much same as RRC. Inner arches, rear wheel archs, door sills, rear floor, rear crossmember under talkgate/door.

With the Tdi just look for regular maintenance and a recipet to show timely cam belt change.
