i know it's in the wrong colour but hopefully there is a colour out there that matches the disco's dash :)
Unfortunatly the wireing and bits that i ordered didnt arrive today even tho i paid for next day delivery, i now wont be receiving them till tuesday time :mad: so i'm hoping that company will give me some money back, now looks like i have a free sunday :(
 
well i decided today that i'd do what i could inside the landy, so i started off bu putting the dial cluster and surround back in, then i routed the cd changer cable in a more sensible place, then i got bored so i decided to pull more of the carpet and sound dredning up unfortunatly i found this

so out came the angle grinder with the flap disc to take away the crap

not sure what the bolt hole is actually for but i'm thinking of haveing the section cut out and a new peice welded in, think i'm going to take all the carpet and sound dredning out to see what other damage thete is. also anyone know why the sound dredning is wet? and also what is this, its in the fuse box and its got what looks like a key hole and turns about 3 clicks

That looks like the back of an ignition barrel! The reason your sound deadening is damp is because of leaks from sunroof etc. Take it out and leave it on the washing line or in the garden with the spongey side up ( in the sun that is! ) Then put it up in your loft or conservatory if you have one! Then wipe up excess water, clean all rust off and use por15 on the entire floor pan! :)once you've welded up the holes that is!
 
Oh dear. This is not good!! Yes of course mate! Get all the rust cleaned up around the holes and gets some plates cut up and ill come round and (try) and show you how to do it, once I've set your welder up that is!
 
that por15 stuff looks good, i've just brought some vulcan rust converter off the bay that ima try first. where would you reccomend getting the plates from? what metal and thickness should i use?

also i dont have a sun roof so where else would it be leaking from?
 
It is spot on mate. Ideally you want 18 gauge steel which 1.2 mm thick,perfect for plating, you can get it from a company in weston on the green, they're called oxford fabrication. They will sel you a 4x2 foot sheet quite cheaply,you can cut it with a decent set of tin snips.
 
Leak wise it could be from the door seals, , any blocked drain holes can cause water to sit there, leaky windscreen could cause it, look around on here I'm sure there's a list of all common disco leaking points
 
thanks :) is it worth cutting the affected area out and welding a new patch in? and i always thought the body of a disco was alloy :S how comes it rusts
 
Yes,cut the rust out,then weld a plate in its place,the outer body is bermabrite ( an alloy mix) and everything else is steel.
 
So finally the wireing that should have been here sat turned up :D hopeing i can get the wireing done and the dash back in tomorrow

I would not reccomend that company to anyone. i paid for next day delivery on thursday and received it tuesday, they have said i will get no refund at all unless i pay to have it shipped back to them and they will refund me excluding the cost of postage :violent:
