Hey all,
I have a bit of a prob with my M reg 300tdi disco I got about a year ago. 1st thing is the rear lights. The top bulb in the rear light cluster looks like a stop/tail bulb (it has 2 wires in it) however when I have the lights on it is not on, I only have the 1’s in the bumper working. I have checked the bulbs and they look fine, any other ideas?
About half was down the cluster there is an empty socket that is a bit smaller than the rest. There is not even a bulb holder there. What’s that for?
Rear fogs don’t work.....I checked the bulbs (I think it’s the 1 at the bottom of the cluster under the reverse 1...?) and the fuse and they look fine.

ok fixed the fog light....
however..............
the reverse light in the left side is not working. checked the bulb and its not that....will it fail a MOT?

Help please
 
Reverse lights aren't an MOT testable item. Some testers will try the "if it's fitted it must work" trick. This is bollix as they shouldn't have tested it in the first place. So therefore they shouldn't know it doesn't work.
 
This is a 300tdi, and you have the 300 tdi rear light cluster

Confused me as well

Top bulb IS a dual filament stop / tail light but only the stop element is connected, the tail light is in the bumper

The hole / missing bulb is where the indicator bulb would fit if you there was one, but you won't have the amber lens so no bulb, again in the bumper

LR take the track out of the light cluster to stop the tail light and one track from the indicator to stop that working
 
ok thanks for the help. is there any way to get the top tail light to work i think i would like it if it did a i think the other 1's are a bit low down

No wiring required, 300 and 200 use the same connectors, or at least did on my '98 300, unplug and replug them in, 4 X indicators and 4 X tail lights instantly. even use the same lamp and holders, just need the indicator lamp and holder, local scrap yard visit

I have 2 X 300 rear tail lights for sale, NS and OS. any offers? ;)
 
my 300 tdi m reg did not just plug in DIFFERENT wiring conections......!
extra conections on 200's plug in connections...!
when i did mine i got the wiring and connections at the same time......
had to rewire 4 wires very easy to do....... takes longer to move diky seats go gain decent access.

most wires are same colour, main diffrernce is on thes drivers side you ll see once you start.

good tip is when you buy your new lights get the plugs with about 6" of wiring on them. connect the black wire to - side battery and touch the others one at a time and label the wires so when you come to connect makes ti idiot proof.

hope this helps and you do do the conversion as makes the rear end look like blackpool illuminations compared to what they were like originally
