Im thinking of putting disco axles on a 90, is it worth it??
I want rear discs and the higher ration, any other benifits?
also any difference between disco and rr classic??

thanks

yes its worth it for disc brakes ,defender rrc and disco all have the same crown wheel and pinion ratio ,its t/box that differs ,id fit 300 tdi axles as are 24 spline and narrow hubs so more ali wheels fit

As James said fit 300 stuff, disc brakes, 24 spline diffs and thicker radius arms. No change in ratios so change the transfer box for that. Get low mileage items and it will hopefully take some of the slack away (or reset higher mileage stuff, it's not hard but you need the correct tools)

ahh i also thought the disco and rr diffs were a higher ratio, wouldnt changing the transfer box for a disco one mean my speedo would be out???

i'll keep an eye out for 300tdi axles then, as its the same ratio i will only have to change the rear axle right?

speedo isnt affected by what t/box ratio you have ,it is by wheel/tyre size you normally fit your speedo out of your old box in your new one

I was thinking of changing my salsbury rear axle to a disco one with discs brakes. Decided to keep the axle but chaged brake shoes for origial ones ( adjustment pins in the right place, same circumferance as the drum and more braking material on shoe. Now I have properly adjusted brakes which are more than adequate and still had the salsibury diff.:)
