disco 300tdi 1995 speedo has started acting up needle jumps up and down erraticlly while driving goes back to zero then jumps up and down will not show speed any ideas, sensor on gearbox was changed last year as it was rounded at end.

An iffy electrical connection either at the dial or at the sensor or trouble with the wire in between.

In a previous tread on this subject the owner found the cable from the sender unit rubbing away on some metal work so look there first along with the connector plug.

due to having to work more hours only got chance to check plugs and wiring under disco plus quick check behind dash, all looked ok but notice when steering right hand down going round roundabouts speedo works once straighten up stops working, plan to check steering area under car had quick look at steering colum area not see where wiring comes in. any ideas, only asking to help save time as work taking over ma life at mo. also no funny replies about keep driving round in circles please. thanks

The only loose wires are near a steering column are under the dash behind and above the fuse box so I would get my CSI torch and look there first

got speedo fixed it was broken connection back of speedo board had to get it looked at by local landrover repair garage
