Hi guys

Just realised i need to open a new thread about my disco 300tdi rear axle that i am fitting to my 1988 2.5td ( 200tdi ) 90 that i have done a minor rebuild too, replaced wheel bearings, hub seals, ect, new rear disc's, pads, and new caliper's ( old axle has drums ) hence reason for swapping the axle's over.

here are a few pic's of getting the axle ready for stripping after rebuilding the front axle.

Yeah was a bit unsure at first but after hearing everyone say about stones and crap getting jammed inside i decided to leave them off, son is going after another job today and if he gets the job he mite have to use the landy for a while till he gets sorted with a company car, the axle that is on it now is ok but is spewing oil out of both half shaft flanges and we have cleaned out the breather and its still doing it so decided the other week we will fit a 300 axle and have better brakes aswell and easy maintenance :)

will let you know tomorrow but think it would be around £50ish for the normal stuff like bearings / seals ( didn't go into the diff ) but replaced caliper's, disc's, and pads which bumped it up to about £150ish :)

fair dose. thats about what i figured.

front axle needs a fair chunk more unfortunantly :( no point changing the swivels without doing all the seals and bearings while im in there :(

Fitted the rear axle on Saturday gave it a run round and everything was ok then son and g/friend went to blackpool for the evening and bedded the rear brakes in and it just feel great, used the radius / trailing arms that came with the axle as the bushes looked better than the ones in ours, anyway here is a few pic's of how it all went removing the old axle and fitting the new one :D

Nice work :)

Cheer's dave, going to enjoy the 90 for a couple of months and do a few play days get Christmas over then start saving for the new galv chassis and everything else we will need for the chassis swap, hopefully now andy ( son ) has got this new job he can help more with buying stuff.

going to the buxton off road pay and play site this Saturday if anyone is going :D

Prefer greenlaning myself, not been to a pay and play to be honest. Really glad your enjoying the 90 and your planning on giving it immortality in the form of a galvanised chassis :) I'm off on a night Laning tour at the end of this month somewhere in Wales with Carpenters 4x4 tours, should be fun, they gave me a tour of Derbyshire earlier this month was a great day out.

Yeah its just up the road from me really as we tried to go there not long after we bought it but the weather was that bad on the day it was canceled  and we was amongst at least another 10 vehicles waiting to go in but couldn't and done a few bits on the landy since so hopefully will be able to try the landy out this time but like you i prefer greenlaning aswell :D
