My disco after I lost control in the rain. Back end came out, tried to correct but couldn't, slung me across the opposite side of the road, down an embankment and rolled 4 times, front to tail first. Came to rest at the bottom of a ditch and laid on it's near side facing the opposite direction.

Already got another one pal! haha! Police and hospital said they have seen people in smaller cars not come away from less serious accidents.

It sounds to me like you were very lucky to come out of that alive!! One up for Disco safety I would say.

Some years ago my misses was stationary on the M25 in a Range Rover Classic when a **** in a Mondeo doing around 60 ramed it. He was reading a book it seems. It pushed the Rangy in to the Corsa in front. The Ford and the Corsa were both written off, but after waiting around for the Police to decide they were too busy to attend my Misses drove off and completed her journey. After she got back I had to change both front and rear bumpers and a back light, and the Rangy is still running now. I wonder how she would have fared in a Eurobox car!

Hmm sometimes large cars have an advantage against smaller cars of a similar age but I know one thing for sure, I felt much safer in my BMW 3 series than what I do in my disco. If I was gonna crash and if I could choose which car to be in, I'd take the BMW any day!

hi mate

props for posting that up mate, not often you get to see the results of a binned disco cos they rarely get crashed as far as i can see.

but yeah few things that spring to mind:

1. i hope youre in good health, that must have been a fair whack.

2. tbh im suprised it lost control, usually theyre so heavy and slow they just roll around the road and scrub the speed off. although once i had to slam on to avoid a car in the middle of the road in a disco with a massive lift, insa turbos and no anti roll bars and the back end did go a bit light, but it came back into shape quite nicely. maybe you hit some diesel on the road.

3. my biggest suprise is that the roof has stayed up so well. looking at what happens when a disco simply tips over when doing 2mph off road, im amazed the roof on yours isnt completely flat, and tbh, that youre living to tell the story. ive done a lot of body reapirs on mine and beneath the exterior panels etc the inner body appears to be very flimsy, especially the pillars towards the rear. i am truly suprised the roof isnt more flat. im also relieved because tbh im **** scared of being in a crash in my death machine (despite the fact that it is now 100% rot free)

4. does it still start and drive nicely? :D

.... you managed to walk away and no body was in the way. i reckon you should buy a lottery ticket.

I was doing 40 if that, off duty police officer stopped who was behind me and confirmed this to the police who turned up. Turned out that there was not only some diesel/oil (not good in the dry but much worse in the rain) on the road, the road surface was knackered and the full section of road has now been resurfaced! Although steaming, the engine was still running afterwards, had to be turned off! I expected much much worse tbh and was suprised when i saw it. I was pulled out and put an a spinal board etc, taken in but got away lightly! Minor head injuries, tissue damage in neck and spine, crush injuries to the chest and stomach. Back gives me a bit of grief now and again, they said it would take months to be right but on the whole I'm fine.
