Hi all RR lovers,
I'm new in these forum,so,for the start, i have simple question - can sombody teel me IS THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SAME ON P38(mine is 2,5 diesel,1998) RR WITH AUTOMATIC AND MANUAL GEARBOX? Mine become "noisy",and i have to change him with one used diff(free) wich is from the same car(P38,2,5 diesel,1998) but with manual gearbox?
Thanks in advance...
(sorry for bad english.I'm from Macedonia,ex Yu,and no many RR here)

:welcome2:
yes the diff's are the same although you may find the rear diff has a harmonic damper on it....big disc made of steel and rubber.
Take it off if using for the front.

Your english is better than some of the southerners on here!!!:D

Thanks a lot everlatesparky. Now I'll have to ask my mechanik if he can "recognise" 2 or 4 pins on my and other(spare) diff. By the way, the same mechanik make my diff "noisy" - he overtorque the differential bolt(20 nm,and after that we read that normal torque is 10 nm!!!), and after 2-3 monts i start hearing noise from diff, espetialy when I lift the pedal driving 50-60 miles and slowing down. Some other mechanik sugest that becouse of overtorquing some 2 bearings and "spliter" betwean them are "gone". What do You sugest? Changing all diff(wich is havy work), or some part of diff(the case with 10 bolts only, maiby)? However, thanks again. Hope we'll stay in touch, considering that we,RR owners in Balkan, learn many "cheap" ways to solve some big problems on P38.

I think the 4 pin diff's were fitted to the 4.6 petrol...check by searching on here.
If the diff is noisy you only need to change the middle part with the 10 bolts....you still have to remove the half shafts but the main axle casing can stay on the car.
