I'm looking to buy new tires for my 90 and i want a different size, trouble is at 130quid a tire I don't particularly want to buy one just for the spare, is it possible to be able to do a short journey like this if I ever got a puncture or will it cause problems? I currently have 235/85s and I want to buy 265/75 bfg at's. Also where is the cheapest place to get bfg at's from, been quoted 650 for 5 or 520 for 4!
Thanks!

I'm not saying they are the cheapest...but does the place you got a quote from deliver? These people have a good reputation and very quick delivery.

Nah I don't want to put remoulds on a 59 plate ta, im gonna go for the at's, thanks for advice cos they are the cheapest so far! just out of curiosity what would happen if you drove with those odd sized wheels?

you will probably get home on the larger spare but i wouldnt like to do major mileage on it. a 235/85 is slightly larger diameter than 265/75 and so the rolling radius is larger.

Your diff will be compensating for the difference in speed all the time so it would basically be like driving around a permanent corner as far as the diffs concerned putting extra strain on the inner workings.

Is there anyway to convert
Metric - Imperial Tyre Sizes and Vice Versa

I.e im running 33x12.50 R15 is there an equilvent metric tyre that i could use as a
"get me Home spare"

33/12.5r15 is roughly 305/70r16 or 285/75r16

305 is roughly the correct width but 285 is very slightly taller (in an ideal world) but you will also find each manufacturers version is different too.

a friend runs half worn marshall 305/70s and his spare is an ex mil 7.50r16. when we put the tyres together side by side there was very little difference in diameter.

That was roughly the numbers i came out with, but when i couldnt find any tyres i questioned my maths.

I guess that size just isnt regualrly avaliable as you suggest.
